The Odisha Rising Foundation’s Sign Language Program, in collaboration with the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities and the SSEPD Department of Odisha, is dedicated to bridging communication gaps for hearing-impaired individuals across the state.
Operating in 54 deaf special schools in Odisha, this initiative reaches over 3,700 people and trains 800 educators, parents, and caregivers in essential sign language skills. Additionally, 100 interpreters are being trained to ensure ongoing support, enabling hearing-impaired individuals to confidently navigate educational, social, and professional settings.
Beyond language skills, the program fosters a culture of acceptance and empathy through interactive workshops, building a supportive environment that integrates hearing-impaired individuals seamlessly into society. Through this initiative, Odisha Rising Foundation envisions an inclusive Odisha where every person can communicate and participate freely.
